November 16, 2018: Bowl Projections

Now that you know how I'd rank FBS teams, here's how I expect them to be matched up in bowl games.

Bowls are arranged chronologically, with date, time and place all included.

Next to each team is its FredRank (larger-sized number), its place in Sagarin Ratings (smaller number below FR), conference, and current (larger) and projected (smaller) win-loss records.

On the far right is the projected spread from Sagarin. Note that even on a neutral site, some teams may be favored even with a worse FredRank than their opponents.

Please also note that FredRank may change slightly for some teams after bowl projections are added to the computer.

Takeaways

-Alabama vs Clemson IV? Yawn.

-Sugar Bowl looks to be the actual most exciting game of the bowl season, with the playoff the way it is.

-Even though Georgia ranked at 4 and Michigan at 5, there's almost no way the committee would take an 11-2 Georgia to the playoff over a 12-1 Michigan.

-Maybe someday I'll take you guys inside the process I use to build these projections.
